[JEFFREY WILLIAMS]

Hometown: Seattle, WA
Resides: Brooklyn, NY

Jeffrey Williams was born into a family of 12 siblings -- seven boys and five girls -- in Seattle, Washington. At a young age, Jeffrey's dream of becoming a fashion designer was supported by his loving mother, who was his biggest fan. In 2004, shortly before being accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, his mother passed of breast cancer, but she continues to be a huge inspiration. While at F.I.T., Jeffrey studied abroad at Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy, and developed a love for the culture and working internationally. He also participated in the prestigious Art Specialization Program, which led him to his professional career as in fashion illustration. Jeffrey graduated from F.I.T in 2009 with a Bachelors in International Fashion Design and a focus on Sportswear, Knit Wear, and Fashion Illustration. Jeffrey has worked with Alexander Wang, Peter Som, and international stylist Patti Wilson. Currently, he is working as a fashion illustrator, a fashion consultant, and a stylist, all while developing his next collection. Presently residing in New York, his design aesthetic is influenced by magical life moments, indigenous communities, the power of his dreams and his loved ones. Jeffrey believes that "there's no such thing as what's in or what's out. It's all about confidence and truth. If you feel divine keep it on, if not, take it the heck off!"

[ROXY COTTONTAIL]

Roxy Cottontail is the kind of girl books are written about. She came to New York with dreams, drive and a tube of lip-gloss ready to work her little Cottontail off and make people come together, dance and have a good time. From Baltimore to Philadelphia, she has been around the musical block picking up friends, acts and experience along the way. In Philly, she helped establish Diplo and Low Budget, of the legendary Hollertronix party. She jump-started Spankrock's rap career and also booked one of Chromeo's first New York shows. Her skills, talent and varied tastes have helped her rise to the top of the promoting, DJing and musical worlds.

(Source: Roxy Cottontail)

Her signature style is part of everything she touches and it has deep roots in punk, electro, house, hip-hop, reggae and rock. Her weekly Monday nights at Sway have been a staple in NYC nightlife for new music, DJs & artists from all over the world for the last 6 years. She hosted dates on the Rock the Bells summer tour in 2008, the same year she was featured on the cover of URB magazine. In 2009 Pepsi added Roxy as the first female DJ in the Pepsi DJ Collective. Her other corporate clients include: Ray Ban, Calvin Klein, Starwood Hotels, Boost Mobile, Harrah's Hotel & Casino and Skull Candy. She has DJed & performed all over the world in places like Hong Kong, Stockholm, Barcelona, Dominican Republic, Iceland and Tokyo. In January 2010 her single "Double Dare" was featured on MTV's show "My Life as Liz" and she had a cameo on the HBO series "How to Make it in America."

(Source: Roxy Cottontail)

Roxy has been featured in countless publications including i-D, The New Yorker, world wide issues of Time Out, WAD, Status, Mixmag, Warp and BPM. This year Spin Magazine featured Roxy in their Top 25 Must-Hear Artists at the Bamboozle music festival along side bands like Weezer and Paramore. She has DJed with some of the biggest names including the late DJ AM, Steve Aoki, Iggy Pop, Afrojack, Afrika Bambaataa, Stretch Armstrong, Ni** Sky, Fake Blood and A-trak. She has produced and hosted parties with live performances by LMFAO, M.I.A., Spankrock, Slick Rick, Devin the Dude and many, many more. Her collaborations also carry into the studio where she has created songs with Armand van Helden, Drop the Lime, Party Squad and legendary Electroclash icon, Larry Tee. DJs, and parties, and recording! Oh my!

Strive MC presents: SFW2011 Concert Night
10pm-2 King Cat Theater

Adrian McKinnon
(Singer: Adrian McKinnon, Source: Myspace)

Being born into a family filled with singers has its drawbacks. "There was so much musical talent in the home that I grew up in, that I had to really work in other areas to help expand my talent." Explains Adrian McKinnon. (Who just so happens to be a singer, song writer, and producer of R&B Music.) "We use to sing for hours, not like the Jackson's or anything, because we had fun while we were doing it. To this day I go about making my music the same way. First and foremost I have fun."

(Studio Producer for Adrian McKinnon, Source: Myspace)

With the complex arrangements that all of his production has, and the intricate melodies that his songs are filled with, it's hard to imagine that's just him having fun. One thing is for sure hearing Adrian's work is a mind boggling experience to say the least. One can't help but to ask: Who, what, when, where, and How? "All I can say is that I really, really, work hard at what it is that I do. I don't rush anything, I just let it take its natural course and let the music form into what ever it becomes."

(Singer: Adrian McKinnon, Source: Myspace

With shows of all sizes, and draws under his belt, Adrian has been captivating audiences all over the North West for the past 3 years with his smooth falsetto. "Performing for me is not only the most rewarding part for me, but also my favorite. I get to share not just my talent, but also my passion for my music with the audience. To have people come up to me after shows and let me know what my set meant to them in turn means the world to me. It puts life in it's proper perspective. It goes to show you that you are not just on this earth for you, and you should share your talents with others"

(Singer: Adrian McKinnon, Source: Myspace

Adrian's musical resume doesn't just boast of R&B songs, but also includes Video game scores, jingle writing, and even rap. "Rap is something that I have always enjoyed doing. Writing rap songs has helped me tremendously in my R&B song writing, because it helps you go about writing love songs in a more abstract way, which I feel is one of the things that is missing in the genre of R&B music. At the end of the day I just want to contribute good music to as many people as possible."

(Singer: Adrian McKinnon, Source: Myspace

With R&B back, and selling well Adrian brings a different dimension to the R&B table. Adrian is the only one at the table of "R&B New Jacks" that have the ability to write, produce, and perform all on the same level. A very high level. "Everyone has a talent, I just want to keep exercising my talents, and expanding on them. I believe the sky is the limit to where my talents can take me." With that said, Adrian is without a doubt a star waiting to be shot across the sky for all to see.

Doxology
(Band: Doxology, Source: reverbnation.com)

BioIn an era saturated with formulaic songs and gimmicks, Doxology prefers to let the music speak for itself.

(Band: Doxology, Source: reverbnation.com

Doxology, formed by brothers Luke (vox) and Gabriel McPherson (keys), Daniel Torres (drums), Michael Hemming (guitar), and Derek Brown (bass), came together with the purpose of creating distinct and meaningful music. The result is an uncompromising and energetic blend of Top 40 Pop hooks, Classic Rock orchestration, Rootsy beats and soulfully aggressive vocals.

(Band: Doxology, Source: reverbnation.com)

Their full-length album, The Revolution, scheduled for release in late 2010 with a 52-city tour following soon after, artfully showcases this unique sound that the band has become known for. Touching on subjects ranging from love and heartbreak to family and politics, the album offers a lyrically deeper insight into the world around us. As described by front man Luke McPherson, "We wanted to write an album that worked together as a whole. Not just a collection of songs we thought could get on the radio. We just got so fed up with so much music that only talks about sex or how much money you have. We needed to put something out in the world that would inspire people and make people think. We try to bring that same passion and energy to the live show as well and I think we've done that. Our goal is to have people love it as much as we've loved making it." Add an electrifying live show that continues to sell-out venues around the Northwest and the result is something that won't soon be forgotten by those who experience Doxology.

ECLECTIC APPROACH
(Band: ECLECTIC APPROACH, Source: reverbnation.com)

In the state which the music industry is currently in, originality is not only demanded but much needed. Along with originality is a thirst for an act that is as fresh, as they are captivating.

(Band: ECLECTIC APPROACH, Source: reverbnation.com

Having said this, allow me to introduce you to Eclectic Approach. A Seattle group made up of bandmates Jowed Hadeed, Justin MacDonald, Ryan Jander, and Brian Paxton. As if filling the industry's void, Eclectic Approach has blended poetic hip-hop infiltrated with rock. An furthermore discovered a way to serve listener a unique musical experience; one which bends genres and breaks stereotypes. "Meeting somewhere between Maroon 5 and the Black Eyed Peas, Eclectic Approach has got it all-tight beats, catchy hooks, sweet guitar licks and smooth vocals"-OurStage.com "Immediately commanding the stage at the dimly-lit, intimate venue, Eclectic Approach began their set. Delivering an unexpected showcase of both lead singer Jowed's lyrical talent and the strength of the band's Rock core. One might assume they were seasoned vets, rather than up-an-coming artists"-Elisa BeallJoonbug.com "EA has a record that matches their live show's intensity and sonic clarity. Their name spreads like wildfire across the Northwest and beyond"-Sonicbids.com

The Slants
(Band: The Slants, Source: reverbnation.com)

He Willamette Week summarizes The Slants' bio perfectly: "It's a great story: All-Asian synthcore troupe lands anime festival, achieves instantaneous notoriety from overpacked fireball-laden maelstrom, inspires John Woo and Dragon Ball Z fans toward aggro electro and--just months after its first practice--books gigs across the globe. As shadow-warriory as the Slants' rise has been, it's still all about the tunes, and the band's debut--floor-filling synth pop bristling with all the menace and grandeur of its oft name-checked cultural icons--is propulsive, cinematic and impossible to ignore." NPR's All Things Considered" states that "It's tempting to peg the Slants in some existing Asian genre: Canto-pop, J-Metal, Viet Core....but they're not quite that simple." Incase you haven't heard, The Slants are one of the only, if not only, Asian synth-pop bands in the North America and they have been melting faces off all over the globe.

(Band: The Slants, Source: reverbnation.com)

Since the band's first show in 2007, The Slants have been cited as the "Hardest Working Asian American Band" (slanteyefortheroundeye.com), They've also had their fair share of press for touring the nation ten times, rejecting a million dollar recording contract, being banned from a venue in Portland due to breathing fire, being considered "too controversial" for the state of Oregon, and were the first and only Asian band to be a Fender Music featured artist. They currently have three releases and tour nonstop.
